Curt Cignetti On National Signing Day Class: ‘It All Starts Up Front’

Wednesday was National Signing Day, and head coach Curt Cignetti looked to make a splash. Cignetti opened his Signing Day press conference by saying, “Signing day sure has changed. They've moved it up, which is good. The month of December has changed a lot as well across the country, whether you still have games remaining or not.” The Hoosiers definitely still have games remaining in December as they are projected to make the College Football Playoffs, yet that’s not stopping them from recruiting at a high level.

Josh Sanguinetti, 6’2”, 171 pounds, Fort Lauderdale, FL (University School.), Safety, 247Sports Composite Ranking H.S.: 3-star (88.80)

The Hoosiers once again reached down to the Sunshine State to bolster their recruiting class. Three-star safety Josh Sanguinetti, out of University School in Fort Lauderdale, has signed with the Hoosiers. IU had been in the market for another safety in this class and landed a solid prospect. His six-foot-two frame reminds some of former Hoosier Jonathan Crawford and if he is anywhere close to where Crawford was as a Hoosier, IU found a gem.

The Indiana Hoosier football program welcomed in 19 new signees on Wednesday during the early signing period. There is a lot of information to sort through in many different places. The Hoosiers came out in great shape as Tom Allen and company inked what at the time is a top-40 class. Indiana will still have five scholarships to play with for the February signing day, so that number can change. It’s been a long day so, let’s do a recap of one of the more important days around college football. We will look at IU’s top signee as well as some players who could have an instant impact and others that are potential sleepers and what positions IU is targeting from now until February 6th. EDITORS NOTE: I did not include QB Jack Tuttle in this article since he is a transfer and is not included in 247Sports class rankings.
