GAME DAY TRADITIONS

Hep's Rock

Hep's Rock

A 3-ton limestone boulder on a granite slab placed in the north end of Memorial Stadium, just outside IU's locker room. Before games, players and coaches touch the rock, which serves as a way to honor former Hoosier Coach Terry Hoeppner's memory.

Marching Hundred

Marching Hundred

Indiana University's famed Marching Hundred is the product of tradition dating back to the organization of the first band at Indiana in 1896.  The current band performs at all home football games, one away game,  and bowl appearances.

The Marching Hundred was the recipient of the 2007 Sudler Trophy, an award bestowed on one university marching band every year from 1982-2007, and every other year from that point on.  It has been described by some as "The Heisman Trophy of the collegiate band world".

 R-O-C-K In the USA:

The Marching Hundred honor Bloomington native John Mellencamp by playing playing his hit at the end of the first quarter. It doesn't hurt that the song references "Rock," the nickname for Memorial Stadium.

Sing, Sing, Sing:

The 1936 Louis Prima hit is a staple of the band's performance, and the drum line is prominently featured in the song. Each year, a new drum solo is incorporated.

The Walk

The Walk

A Tradition started by the late Hoeppner, as players and coaches walk through the tailgating areas to the crimson gates at Memorial Stadium two hours before home games. Indiana's Marching Hundred, Crimson Squad, and Cheerleaders also performs during The Walk.

The Quarry

The Quarry

The seating between sections 21 and 26 in “The Rock” have been aptly named “The Quarry" since 2010.  The Quarry is home to the Indiana Football Student Section.
